The World of Design

Why is this object shaped like this?

01Toma un objeto de tu mesa.
02¿Qué problema resuelve?
03¿Qué cambiarías? Dilo en inglés.
🎯Al terminar este tema podrás

Desempeños

I
Describir objetos por función, forma y material.
II
Manejar el vocabulario del proceso de diseño.
III

“Good design is as little design as possible.”

PREGUNTA
Who is it for? What is the real problem?
What if…?Can we build it fast?
Does it work? What do we change?

Qué hace bueno un diseño

Usability — se entiende sin instrucciones
intuitive interface
Durability — dura y se puede reparar
built to last
Accessibility — sirve a todos
usable with one hand
Sustainability — materiales y ciclo de vida
recycled materials
Affordability — coste razonable
low production cost
Aesthetics — lo último, no lo primero
visually coherent

Función vs. Decoración

Function
The handle is curved to fit the hand.
Decoration
The handle is gold-plated.
📖Lectura contextualizada

The Chair That Nobody Wanted

The first prototype was beautiful but unstable. Users could not stack it, and the seat was too shallow. The team redesigned the base, changed to recycled plastic and made it stackable. Sales tripled — and the chair looked almost identical.
